Monday-Saturday, through October — Regional Environmental Council Farmers Markets, various times and locations Every now and then, an idea is just too good to pass up. Like putting a man on the moon, making chocolate and peanut butter a duo, or taking a leisurely afternoon drive on I-290. Does it get any better? Well, REC’s been around for more than 40 years and has spent most of that time focused on building a stronger community through food justice. Through community gardens and programs like YouthGROW, the nonprofit seeks to get better food in more people’s hands.
To that end, the group operates farmers markets through summer and into fall at University Park (9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturdays, 965 Main St.), Beaver Brook Park (9:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Mondays and Fridays, 306 Chandler St.) and 16 other citywide stops — from the Senior Center and Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center in Great Brook Valley, to Worcester Common and the YWCA — Tuesday through Friday with its Mobile Market.
